Young African American marching with the flag next to a white middle aged American.

I choose this because of the way he is embracing the flag, it shows that he has a different perspective in mind- growth towards ultimate equality. His face is full of whole hearted optimism, it's as though he understands the challenges he faces and is ready to face them with all of his heart. This embracing attitude with his demeanor satisfies my taste for hope, that's all.

State trooper taking a break with his gas mask on.

I choose this one because it is the exact opposite of what I see in my first choice. This man symbolizes hate, social disease and imprudence towards righteousness. It's a powerful image because we can see the squint in his eye's caused by the devilish smirk behind his mask; now in his case it is better he was wearing that mask.

Demonstrators walk alongside a highway, only their legs to their feet are shown.

What do you think of when you see foward motion of a foot? What do you think of when you see foward motion of a foot without a torso, and a chest, and the head? Emblamatic of a vision that can't be stopped. The grass behind them is matted now, by different feat, with one destination. The legs swing forward with grace and balance the way a pendulum continuously knocks its kind foward, and in both directions.
