Inside the Music of Sonny's style

Louis Armstong
Slow and soothing, and a drawn out pace but also more piano
Parker
Uplifting, groovy pace, Sax is much louder bass is lower tonality which makes for a harmoniuos counteraction between the two- synonymous with Sonny's battle.
Sonny is filling voids in his life, whether it is with drugs or with music. The void he fills with music is that of creation and it's an obstinate sort of life in the music which Sonny finds from living in despair with drugs. The music offers him a form of insight into why he was doing what he was doing to himself. Paker's music is more lively with a progressive pace to it, Armstrong's music slows you down- it makes you inflect instead of reflect. Sonny and Parkers style of Jazz is a portrayl of this kind of living in music, where what they create is a relection of their life styles and the absolute control one searches for; in Sonny's case, music or drugs.

Realism, naturalism and local color

A realist believes to tell stories with honesty and integrity and to be true to ones self, whether this is reflceted in the characters of the stories or the narrative. Twains story, "TCJFoCC" is a true interpreation of this, Smiley is a character who is told about from our first hand story teller. Although the author of the publication is interviewing another about this man he is getting first hand information, while all at once allowing us to recognize the information he is recieving about Smiley may be falsified or greatly exaggerated. The Same for realism is also true in the White Heron, because the little girl sylivia stays true to her self throughout the entire story not weening off or selling out to give away the location of the Heron, attributed to a moral sensibility she obtains in the pine.

We also see naturalism occur throughout the story.

Young African American marching with the flag next to a white middle aged American.

I choose this because of the way he is embracing the flag, it shows that he has a different perspective in mind- growth towards ultimate equality. His face is full of whole hearted optimism, it's as though he understands the challenges he faces and is ready to face them with all of his heart. This embracing attitude with his demeanor satisfies my taste for hope, that's all.

State trooper taking a break with his gas mask on.

I choose this one because it is the exact opposite of what I see in my first choice. This man symbolizes hate, social disease and imprudence towards righteousness. It's a powerful image because we can see the squint in his eye's caused by the devilish smirk behind his mask; now in his case it is better he was wearing that mask.

Demonstrators walk alongside a highway, only their legs to their feet are shown.

What do you think of when you see foward motion of a foot? What do you think of when you see foward motion of a foot without a torso, and a chest, and the head? Emblamatic of a vision that can't be stopped. The grass behind them is matted now, by different feat, with one destination. The legs swing forward with grace and balance the way a pendulum continuously knocks its kind foward, and in both directions.
